The Epic in downtown Dallas is an 8-acre mixed-use development located in the Deep Ellum district, a vibrant part of the city that has experienced a revitalization in the past few years. With the incorporation of The Epic Development, contemporary office spaces, full service branded hospitality, residential spaces, and retail spaces have been incorporated into the community. Positioned within the overlap of Downtown Dallas and Deep Ellum, The Epic defines a new gateway to the distinctive neighborhood and contributes to the vibrancy of the area.
The Epic includes a contemporary office tower with thoughtful amenities and innovative offerings, including Class-A office workspace, a multi-functional amenity deck, inclusive retail space, and onsite security. The 251,000 SF building was designed by global architecture firm Perkins & Will and showcases an aesthetic that complements the Deep Ellum district’s evolution and blends in with the buildings in the central business district while providing visibility to the downtown skyline.
Bomanite Custom Polished Concrete Creates Transformational Surfaces
Balfour Beatty was selected to build The Epic office tower, leveraging the latest technologies to facilitate team alignment and achieve the desired progressive design goals. Balfour Beatty enlisted Bomanite Licensee Texas Bomanite to install Bomanite Custom Polishing Systems in the lobby area at The Epic. Bomanite Patène Teres was the selected custom polishing system and can provide simple monotone shades, bright, vibrant colors, and anything in between, offering a wide range of colors and looks to create transformational flooring surfaces.
Bomanite Patène Teres uses Bomanite Chemical Stains and Bomanite Concrete Dyes to color fully cured concrete as part of the polishing process and for this project was utilized in conjunction with Bomanite Concrete Dye to create 9,055 SF of custom polished concrete flooring. The stunning flooring in The Epic lobby features a salt and pepper, 1500 grit finish, showcasing the smallest aggregate in the mix and resulting in a beautiful sheen.

Texas Bomanite created a surface that will provide versatility, durability, and functionality with permanent results that complement the carefully designed, modern aesthetic throughout the space and earned them the 2022 Honorable Mention Award for Best Bomanite Custom Polishing Systems Project.
